we build boards differently.
At Verdure, we craft surfboards from natural and recyclable materials that perform better, last longer, and strengthen your connection with the ocean.
Born from frustration with fragile, toxic boards, our journey began twelve years ago in small wood workshop in New Zealand.
Today, we build surfboards for some of the world’s best surfers and collaborate with shapers around the globe to bring their designs to life using our cleaner, high-performance construction methods.

Cork
Cork is lightweight, flexible, and naturally grippy, making it ideal as a top deck layer on surfboards. It adds comfort and traction and eliminates the need for wax.
Paulownia Wood
Paulownia is a lightweight, water-resistant hardwood. It adds strength, durability, and natural flex while maintaining low weight.
Recyclable EPS
We use recyclable polystyrene for our board cores and ensure all offcuts are recycled. While it’s a step in the right direction, we're actively exploring plant-based alternative and are committed to making the switch as soon as performance and sustainability align.
Natural Oils and Hard Wax
We use a natural coating system to protect the wooden bottoms of our boards. Rubio Monocoat seals and hardens the timber, while Osmo Polyx adds a tough, water-resistant, hydrophobic finish boosting durability and making the boards faster through the water.
Organic Hemp
We use hemp fiber beneath our cork and wood decks as a natural alternative to fiberglass. It adds strength, flexibility, and durability delivering high performance with a lower environmental impact.
Bio - Resin
Our resin is approximately 30% plant-based, offering a more sustainable option with a reduced carbon footprint. It binds all materials together while providing strength and flexibility for lasting performance.

FAQs
What makes your boards environmentally friendlier?
We build with lower-impact materials like Paulownia wood, cork, natural fibres, recyclable EPS, and plant-based bio resins. Boards are finished with natural oils and hard wax, avoiding toxic topcoats and heavy industrial processes.
How do they perform?
Our boards are designed for reliable, high-level performance, with materials that deliver good flex properties, strength, and responsiveness. They sit nicely in the water, work across a wide range of conditions and hold up well over time.
What kind of resin do you use?
We use bio-based epoxy resins that reduce petroleum use by replacing a portion with plant-derived materials. They're strong and better for the environment during both production and lifespan.
How should I care for the board?
Rinse it with fresh water after sessions, avoid prolonged UV exposure, and store it in a cool, dry place. The natural oil finish has been tested for over 5 years, and it holds up well in the elements but it’s also easy to reapply if needed to keep the board sealed and looking fresh.
Can I get a custom shape?
Yes. We can do customs. Please email Jack to discuss.
How do I repair small dings?
Fix dings as soon as possible to keep water out. For minor cracks or pressure marks, you can use natural furniture repair sticks (like wax or wood touch-up sticks) for quick fixes. For larger dings, contact us or your local repair shop. Be sure to tell them not to use polyester resin.
Is the cork actually grippy enough?
Surprisingly yes. The cork is very grippy both bare foot and with booties.
Does the cork soak up water?
The cork will soak up about 150 - 200 grams of water per session. But it dries quickly in a well ventilated area and this doesn't degrade the material.
Can I stick a traction pad on?
If you would like to run a traction pad please let us know and we will coat the tail so that it can stick to the cork.
